Art Discovery: Leonardo Da Vinci 4

April 22 - See the world through Leonardo's eyes with a hands-on camera obscura project.

Christ the Rock Lutheran Church

Before cameras, before photography, there was the camera obscura, a device that fascinated Leonardo da Vinci and shaped the way Renaissance artists observed and captured the world around them. In this art discovery class, students explore how this remarkable tool works and build their own camera obscura project to experience it firsthand. Through this project, students gain a deeper understanding of how light, optics, and careful observation influenced some of the greatest artists in history. It is part science, part art history, and entirely hands-on. Art Discovery Classes are designed for older homeschoolers who are ready to look beyond how to make art and start thinking about why artists make the choices they do. Projects are age appropriate and flexible, allowing students to work at their own skill level while being encouraged to take creative risks and develop their own artistic voice. This class is best suited for pre-teens and teens, though students age 8 and up are welcome. All art supplies are included.
