Art Discovery: Leonardo Da Vinci 3

April 15 - Discover the Renaissance technique of glazing and use it to bring your painting to life.

Christ the Rock Lutheran Church

What if a single painting technique could transform flat, dull color into something luminous and full of depth? In this art discovery class, students learn the technique of glazing, one of the most celebrated methods used by Renaissance painters to achieve rich, glowing color and lifelike dimension. Students begin with a simple monochrome painting, then apply glazing techniques layer by layer to bring it to life. The process teaches patience, observation, and a deeper understanding of how light and color work together on the canvas. Art Discovery Classes are designed for older homeschoolers who are ready to look beyond how to make art and start thinking about why artists make the choices they do. Projects are age appropriate and flexible, allowing students to work at their own skill level while being encouraged to take creative risks and develop their own artistic voice. This class is best suited for pre-teens and teens, though students age 8 and up are welcome. All art supplies are included.
