Art Discovery: Leonardo Da Vinci 1

April 1 - Explore the mind and masterpieces of the ultimate Renaissance man, Leonardo da Vinci.

Christ the Rock Lutheran Church

What does it mean to be a true Renaissance man? In this art discovery class, students explore the remarkable life and iconic works of Leonardo da Vinci, from his early paintings to his most celebrated masterpieces, and discover how one person's insatiable curiosity changed the art world forever. The class begins with an engaging look at da Vinci's life, his early works, and how his style and ambitions evolved over time. Students examine his most famous pieces together, sharing observations and thoughts as a group while learning to look more closely and think more deeply about what they see. Studio time encourages students to engage with da Vinci's techniques and ideas in their own creative work, exploring the connection between observation, imagination, and artistic expression. No advanced skills are needed, just curiosity, engagement, and a willingness to explore. Art Discovery Classes are designed for older homeschoolers who are ready to look beyond how to make art and start thinking about why artists make the choices they do. Projects are age appropriate and flexible, allowing students to work at their own skill level while being encouraged to take creative risks and develop their own artistic voice. This class is best suited for pre-teens and teens, though students age 8 and up are welcome. All art supplies are included.
