Art Discovery: Bob Ross
March 25 - Paint like Bob Ross - same tools, same techniques, same happy accidents
How can a few confident brush strokes bring an entire landscape to life? In this art discovery class, students paint along with Bob Ross in real time, following one of his beloved step-by-step episodes using the same tools and paints he used: fan brushes, palette knives, and water-based oil paints. The class begins with a brief look at Bob Ross's life and philosophy, his belief that anyone can paint, and how his warm, encouraging approach changed the way millions of people think about creativity. Studio time is spent brush in hand, painting alongside Bob Ross with his signature tools and wet-on-wet technique, building a complete landscape from start to finish. No advanced skills are needed, just curiosity, engagement, and a willingness to explore. Art Discovery Classes are designed for older homeschoolers who are ready to look beyond how to make art and start thinking about why artists make the choices they do. Projects are age appropriate and flexible, allowing students to work at their own skill level while being encouraged to take creative risks and develop their own artistic voice. This class is best suited for pre-teens and teens, though students age 8 and up are welcome. All art supplies are included. Just bring an open mind, there are no mistakes, only happy accidents.
